Microcredentials Get The Green Light

The Ministerial Decree on micro-certificates in higher education has been published in the Hungarian Official Gazette, which allows the launch of micro-certificate courses in adult education as well, following the pilot projects in higher education.

In adult education, micro-certificates will be issued in Hungarian and English, as this will increase the value of the competitive workforce in the long term and may also strengthen the international recognition of the Hungarian education system.- the kormány.hu reports.

The entry into force of the regulation will provide opportunities for those who are committed to lifelong learning. Micro-certificate training courses are aimed at these people, offering shorter courses of shorter duration to help them successfully master a small unit of learning, thus helping them to respond more quickly to labour market needs.

“The new system will, for instance, enable people to acquire the basic knowledge and skills needed to run a bakery, which would otherwise be acquired as a vocational training, without having to enrol in a professional training institution,” said Veronika Varga-Bajusz, State Secretary for Higher Education, Vocational and Adult Education and Youth.
